First Alert Weather Day as strong winter storm moves into Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A strong storm system is pushing toward Arizona today, bringing many big weather changes and prompting a First Alert Weather Day.

As the storm pushes through Southern California and toward Arizona, winds will pick up this morning across Arizona. Blowing dust is possible, and a Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect today across Pinal County. Much of the southern half of the state, including the Valley metro area, is also under a Wind Advisory today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Gusts could reach 50 mph.

In the Valley, look for partly sunny skies this morning and winds out of the southeast between 10 and 20 mph. Skies will cloud up this afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west and winds increase. Southwesterly winds of 15 to 25 mph could gust to 40 mph…
