PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A semi-truck carrying fruit went up in flames early Sunday morning, causing an hours-long closure for drivers in Tempe.
The fire was reported on the westbound lanes of I-10 near Southern Avenue in Tempe just before 1 a.m. A trooper on scene told Arizona’s Family the semi-truck driver lost control and crashed, causing the cab and trailer filled with watermelon to catch on fire.
Investigators say the driver is okay and did not sustain any injuries.
The westbound lanes were closed throughout the morning but reopened shortly before 11 a.m…
