Phoenix Braces for Showers and Thunderstorms, Temperatures to Heat Up Later in the Week

Residents of Phoenix should be prepared for a wet start to the week, as the National Weather Service forecasts a high chance of showers and thunderstorms rolling into the area today. The temperature is expected to peak near 93 degrees with winds picking up and potentially gusting as high as 25 mph. According to the National Weather Service, an 80% chance of precipitation is predicted, and while new precipitation amounts will likely be less than a tenth of an inch, higher amounts are possible during thunderstorms.

Continuing into the evening, showers and thunderstorms are likely before midnight, then possibly again between midnight and 2:00 am, followed by another chance of rain after 2:00 a.m. The evening low should hover around 72 degrees. Showers will carry new rainfall amounts that could range between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, with some areas seeing more if thunderstorms occur.

Looking ahead to Monday, there’s a 40% chance of continued showers and thunderstorms, mainly occurring before 11:00 a.m. The skies are then expected to clear up, making way for a mostly sunny afternoon with highs again nearing 92 degrees.
