Tempe Bee Swarm Injures Family, Including Children and Wheelchair User, Near Dollar Tree

A bee attack in Tempe injured several people, including children, near Baseline and Kyrene roads outside a Dollar Tree store. Last Thursday, before 2 p.m., Tempe Fire Department crews arrived at the scene responding to reports of multiple individuals being stung, as reported by ABC15. The victims, two kids and two adults, suffered up to 15 stings each and were promptly transported to the hospital for treatment, although their current health status remains unknown.

Among the victims was Joseph Ramirez, a wheelchair user, who was with his family. Ramirez recounted his harrowing experience to FOX 10 Phoenix, saying, “As I’m turning around, I guess I hit the bees. I get swarmed by over 50 bees, and I’m trying to breathe because they’re all over my face. I swallowed one, actually.” Following the bee attack, Ramirez was hospitalized for three days and claimed that doctors warned him of being close to a heart attack upon his arrival at the hospital.

The incident sparked concern among local residents. Initial reports indicate that the bee swarm was disturbed by landscapers working at an apartment complex in the vicinity.
