BENTON TWP., Ohio (WTVG) – We’re getting new insight into the state investigation of a mining operation in Ottawa County. It’s the same one facing scrutiny on how it handles material from Toledo’s water treatment plant. We’ve also learned that the city of Oregon may be part of all this, as well.
There was an affidavit supporting the search warrant the I-TEAM has been reporting on since Friday. This gets into much more details about what may be happening in Ottawa County and how it traces back to Lucas County.
By the time investigators with Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation got to that Benton Township quarry last Friday, they already had plenty of information about what could be happening there.
