Block Communications told employees Tuesday that it is looking to explore a sale of The Blade’s assets, according to The Blade’s staff. Block Communications said if a sale does not succeed, the final print and digital editions of The Blade will publish Dec. 31.
“The Block Family’s continued investment to keep the Blade open is no longer an option. The financial losses the Blade has endured for years are simply not sustainable,” Jodi Miehls, president and CEO of Block Communications, sent in an email to Blade staff.
