One of the most beloved experiences in Michigan, the Gibraltar Trade Center, is making a return to Southeast Michigan, allegedly.
This time around, the admins of the Gibraltar Trade Center 2 Facebook page say they will be bringing over 300 vendors to a brand new home they’ve never been in before. However, there are people who are seriously questioning whether the announcement is real or someone playing jokes.

The alleged new owners of Gibraltar Trade Center 2 had hoped to return to Taylor, where the original Gibraltar Trade Center was located; however, according to them, the city of Taylor refused to accept the name and the style of business to approve their opening. Some are saying the original owners still own the name and the building, which they say is currently occupied by Burlington Coat Factory, which has made no announcements about vacating. We reached out to the widow of the late owner, Bob Koester, to confirm whether their claims are true, saying:
It’s official!! Name has been claimed; it’s OURS!
GTC2 admins announced that Gibraltar Trade Center 2 will officially be opening at 2121 N. Monroe Street, Suite 200 in Monroe, Michigan, right off of Telegraph Road. However, any comments and serious inquiries made on Facebook about when they plan on opening and if it’s legitimate is being responded to with vague comforts and no real information as to when they even plan on opening. They say the original hopes to return the Gibraltar Trade Center to where it all began was a losing battle, as they announced on Facebook; going back and forth with the city of Taylor did not work out:
We do understand that this may change the mind of some vendors due to the location change, but we promise this building is even larger and can offer even more amenities for our vendors with ample storage as well. We thank every single one of you for your support and can’t wait for you all to enjoy making new memories in our 60,000 square-foot facility…
