Sylvania resident urges city to address e-bike concerns, improve safety education

SYLVANIA, Ohio — A Sylvania resident is calling on the city to take a closer look at electric bike use in neighborhoods, on city streets and in parks, saying safety concerns are growing as more young riders take to the roads.

Abe Ramadan said he frequently sees children riding e-bikes near Sylvania Avenue, including around the Sheetz and Planet Fitness area, and worries some riders are crossing streets without paying attention to traffic.

“When … tragically something happens to a child, am I to blame?” Ramadan said. “Not everybody has good eyes, to be honest with you, so there’s people out here that can barely see at night.”…
