Toledo police Friday identified two suspects in the November fatal shooting of a 20-year-old whose body was later discovered in the back seat of a burning sedan.
Police are seeking Kristaun Self, 16, in the death of Josiah Gill on Nov. 9 in East Toledo, while the second suspect, Alexzander Perez, 31, was arrested Friday.
Authorities said young Self is wanted on murder charges, while Mr. Perez faces several other charges, including one related to abusing a corpse. Records showed he was in the Lucas County Corrections Center on Friday afternoon.
Toledo Fire & Rescue crews were called on a report of an outdoor fire at 1:30 a.m. Nov. 9 under the Veterans Glass City Skyway. After extinguishing what turned out to be a car fire, they discovered the body in the back seat.
Mr. Gill was from Toledo’s Point Place neighborhood, and is a 2021 graduate of Maritime Academy of Toledo. He worked at Dreams of Fields Landscaping.
The Lucas County Coroner’s Office said the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, and Mr. Gill was not alive during the fire.
