Two men were injured in separate shootings that occurred while they were walking in central Toledo late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, police said.
In the first, police said they found Jay’Mon Tate, 25, seeking treatment at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center after he’d been shot while walking near the corner of Central and Scottwood avenues at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
He told police that an unknown person had fired at him from a passing car. His injuries weren’t life-threatening, officials said.
About an hour later, at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to another gunshot victim, Michael Joyce, 19, who was being treated at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He said he was walking home from the Red & White Super Market on North Detroit when he was shot in the hand.
He told police he didn’t see a suspect. Police said Mr. Joyce’s injuries appeared to be superficial.
