MONROE — Weeks before she’s ready to haunt the two-day horror show, Bernadette Sanchez spends hours in her dungeon creating.
The mixed media artist known as B.B. Crow is returning to the Michigan Oddities and Horror Fest slated from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at First Merchant’s Expo Center at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. Each day, tickets are $20 per person with free admission for children age 8 and younger.
Nate Thompson, the creator and sponsor of the spooky venue, said it’s going to be like a “freaky family reunion” with close to 90% of vendors returning.
More than 100 artists and vendors participated in last year’s first-time event with close to 2,500 attending. This year’s show will feature human bones, wet specimens in jars, horror vendors, crafters and pro wrestling with Midwest Pro Wrestling Alliance. Monroe’s Midnight Riders, an entertaining dance troupe founded by B.B. Crow, will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday.
“What’s new this year and what I’m really excited about is our special celebrity guest Kane Hodder,” Nate Thompson said.
