Videos released Thursday by Toledo police show a vehicle and foot chase of a man whom police fired at after he pointed a rifle toward them earlier this week.
Toledo police detectives Tuesday fired multiple shots at the South Toledo man who’d led them on the chase, but they missed, according to police accounts and videos — including dash, body, and security camera views of the pursuit. One security camera video appears to confirm that the man turned and pointed the gun in the direction of officers.
The man, Arie Hall-Jones, 22, was uninjured, taken into custody, and charged with four felonies.
“He’s got a gun, he’s got a rifle in his hands, rifle,” one of the pursuing detectives is heard saying, followed by a sound of a few shots in rapid succession after the suspect bailed out of his vehicle near Airport Highway and Reynolds Road, and ran behind a building. The video shows an officer catching him after a foot chase, pushing him to the ground, and putting handcuffs on.
“Drop the gun … Drop it now,” an officer is heard yelling just before he grabs and shoves the suspect to the ground and orders him to give him his arms to be handcuffed.
