Experienced leader takes over leadership at Area Office on Aging

After working with his predecessor for multiple decades, Justin Moor was officially designated Thursday as the new president/chief executive officer of the Northwest Ohio Area Office of Aging.

The announcement at the Area Office on Aging in Toledo follows the retirement of Billie Johnson.

Bill Harris, the organization’s board chairman, said Mrs. Johnson has been preparing Mr. Moor to assume the role “over the past 20 years.”

As a 20-something, Mr. Moor started as an associate planner and worked his way through the ranks.

With the conclusion of a nationwide search, the executive board voted unanimously to install Mr. Moor with an annual salary of $182,000.

“This has been a dream job for me ever since I was a young child and had my great grandfather who lived to 104 as a big influence in my life,” Mr. Moor said.

Since the summer of 2023, Mr. Moor has been the interim president/CEO and began casting a vision for the agency.

Mr. Moor’s associates say the transition has been fairly smooth.
