To the editor: Development projects transforming Toledo in 2024

Toledo is experiencing an unprecedented surge in development.

“Toledo momentum” has been built over the years from catalytic investments by anchor institutions and major employers, and the infusion of federal dollars made available to municipalities in the aftermath of the pandemic. Private sector investments have been seamlessly intertwined with the renovation and expansion of key public assets such as the Glass City Center, Imagination Station, and the Toledo Zoo & Aquarium.

A number of major development projects are poised to redefine Toledo’s landscape and continue this upward trajectory in 2024 and beyond. Totaling nearly $1 billion dollars of investment, here are five major development projects that have the potential to propel Toledo forward unlike ever before.

1. Glass City Riverwalk, $200 million

Toledo is on a mission to build the best Riverwalk in the country. Three hundred acres of new and revitalized greenspace along the Maumee River, linked by 5 miles of multiuse trails is poised to significantly enhance the appeal of downtown Toledo and the region at large. With the completion of Glass City Metropark last year, phases three and four of this transformational project will continue to progress this year.
