A Lucas County judge sent a Toledo woman to prison for 3½ years Monday after convicting her of aggravated assault for a shooting 17 months ago near her home.
Katey Rice, 31, had been charged with felonious assault for the Sept. 6, 2022 shooting of Christopher Fricke, 41, of the 1300 block of Slater Street, outside an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Slater. Judge Michael Goulding, who presided at a two-day bench trial last week, found her guilty of the lesser included charge, for which he gave her six months in prison, plus a mandatory three-year firearms specification.
Mr. Fricke, who was shot three times, was in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for the judge’s ruling and sentencing Monday morning, but declined to make a statement.
