Judge Hatchett delivers a sermon not a verdict

Celebrity Judge Glenda Hatchett kept the courtroom drama to a minimum during her keynote speech at the 15th annual Toledo Leaders for the Club luncheon for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo, but she may have been caught preaching without a license.

Emcee Valerie Simmons-Walston, a special adviser for Community Engagement and Strategic Partnerships to the president of the University of Toledo, introduced Ms. Hatchett with overwhelming energy.

“Judge Hatchett, you are my mother’s favorite judge,” she said.

A room full of patrons from across Toledo listened as Ms. Hatchett delivered a sermon from the depths of her heart during what Shannon Kolkedy, marketing and communications manager for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Toledo, said was their largest spring fund-raiser.

The star of “The Verdict with Judge Hatchett” said, “It is my privilege to be in this place at this time.”

“And not only is it my privilege, it is my responsibility, because I believe deeply in the work that goes on and the mission of the Boys and Girls Club, and you’re going to hear why.
