Stacy’s Sparkles plans final fundraising celebration May 18

MONROE — Stacy’s Sparkles is planning its final fundraiser. Slated for 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the VFW Hall, 400 Jones Ave. in Monroe, the event will offer dinner, raffle baskets, a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction and a cash bar.

Bronco McKart will serve as host with special guest Kaye Lani Rae Rafko, executive director of Gabby’s Ladder Grief Center. Entertainment will be provided by Tom Treece and Cross Point along with DJ Bruce Bezeau of Classic Sounds. Tickets are $15. Children 5 and younger are free.

The proceeds will benefit Gabby’s Ladder and the National MPS Society for MPS cure research.

Since 2014, Stacy’s Sparkles, a nonprofit organization, has been providing comfort bags helping those with the loss of a loved one. A special emphasis was placed on grieving children.

Nancy Wain started the charitable organization in memory of her daughter, Stacy, who died May 19, 2014 due to complications from surgery.

The 26-year-old was born with mucopolysaccaridoses (MPS), also known as Hurler syndrome, a genetic disease that affects the body’s metabolism.
