Car and motorcycle show supports group’s motorcycle awareness, suicide prevention efforts

MILAN — Fans of classic cars and motorcycles are invited to a fundraiser this coming weekend that supports motorcycle awareness and suicide prevention.

The Hot Rods Motorcycle Awareness and Suicide Prevention Foundation’s fourth annual Car and Bike Show takes place Saturday, Sept. 7, at Wilson Park, 89 Wabash St., in Milan , rain or shine, according to the event’s flyer. Registration of cars and motorcycles runs from 9 a.m. to noon, and trophies will be awarded beginning at 3 p.m. There is no preregistration. The entry fees are $15 for cars at $10 for motorcycles.

Last year’s show had about 125 cars and about 50 motorcycles, foundation treasurer Denise Beaton said, and the group is working to get the word out to attract even more.

The show will include a 9/11 tribute, 50/50 raffles, door prizes, a swap meet, vendors, food trucks and a DJ, Backstreet Cruizers. There also will be a bike raffle featuring a 1997 Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide with less than 10,000 miles, custom paint and other extras. The Harley’s back fender is painted with a 9/11 tribute. Tickets for the bike raffle are $10 each with a maximum of 2,000 to be sold.
