Toledo’s food scene is jam-packed from the family-owned restaurants to its annual food festivals.

The food truck scene in the city is extensive — with local trucks catering to various farmers markets, private events, and more.
The Loaded Chicken
The Loaded Chicken is known for its fried-to-order chicken tenders, said its owner Michael Francis.
“I believe that we’re the only food truck in northwest Ohio that hand-makes every piece of chicken,” he continued. “We use fresh tenderloin, never frozen, and we hand-bread every piece. … Never breasts, only tenderloin.”
Francis said he takes time to pound each tender super thin before he runs the chicken through a meat tenderizer — going the extra mile in prep is what makes for the best outcome in service.
“You’ve got to start with quality to end with quality,” the owner said. “And then my French fries, my famous French fries. … Everybody loves my fries.”
