For fans of the classics, Toledo is the heart of it all in the state that’s the heart of it all.
We are sitting in a veritable treasure trove of classical music, not to mention jazz, rock, blues, and soul.
We are surrounded by it, close to several universities and colleges, and community-driven concerts in churches and other venues. We have community orchestras, chorales, choirs, and community bands, formed by music lovers on other career paths. And don’t forget the smaller communities, like Adrian and Tiffin and the Firelands area that make music too. The musical riches of Ann Arbor and Detroit are easily within reach.
But we can’t forget the Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts, the umbrella for many professional companies: the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, the Toledo Opera Association, the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, the Toledo Ballet, Youth Orchestras, and music education.
