‘No on One’ bus tour stops in Toledo

Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou stopped briefly in downtown Toledo Thursday as a part of the “No on One” and ORP Early Vote Bus Tour.

The tour, which is meant to get Ohioans to vote no on Issue 1, began Tuesday in London, southwest of Columbus. In all, the bus will have visited 30 counties in the state, ending Friday evening in Dublin.

The stop in Toledo was uneventful as no one attended the afternoon event.

“We are trying to fix the misinformation that is out there,” Mr. Triantafilou said. “People need to know that this issue is gerrymandering. We are trying to spread the word that this is bad policy for Ohio and it does not have bipartisan support.”

Currently, the redistricting commission, made up of three statewide elected officials and four lawmakers, draws state legislative districts. The General Assembly is tasked with passing a congressional map.

If passed, Issue 1 would change the redistricting commission from seven politicians to a 15-member bipartisan Ohio Citizens Redistricting Commission.
