Harvard Elementary social studies teacher named educator of the month

An eighth-grade teacher at Harvard Elementary School has been named Teacher of the Month for the Ohio Lottery’s Partners in Education program.

Nancy Garand teaches social studies and English language arts at the South Toledo school. The Partners in Education program honors teachers and students statewide who are nominated for their work in the classroom.

“Ms. Garand truly cares for her students, and it shows. She expects the best out of them and strives to be the best for them,” one of her fellow teachers, Jeniene Hall, said. “She encourages them to set goals and exceed them.”

For being recognized as a Teacher of the Month, Ms. Garand will receive an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery as well as a gift card.
