Standout swimmer Mia Buff charting her future in the pool

BOWLING GREEN — As the youngest member of a true swimming family, Mia Buff has a lot to live up to – both for the last half of her high school career and beyond that in college.

What exactly her accomplishments will be in those future years remain to be seen. But at the age of 16, the Bowling Green High School junior has already decided the “where” part of her equation at the next level.

Buff announced recently she has committed to the University of Tennessee, where she will join the Lady Volunteers swimming and diving team in the highly competitive Southeastern Conference.

“I picked Tennessee because when I was there, it just felt like home,” Buff said. “I knew that was the place I wanted to be, with all the training they explained to me and what they do. It felt like I could be the best possible swimmer and best possible person I can be there.”

Buff, who had attended St. Ursula Academy in Toledo from sixth grade through her sophomore year in 2023-24, has transferred to her hometown high school and will be competing this year for the Bobcats of the wife-husband coaching team of Carolyn Strunk and Gary Layne.
