Roko Rumora, the new assistant curator of ancient art at Toledo Museum of Art, has only been in Toledo for about two-and-a-half months, but he’s really enjoying it.
”I think it’s been great,” said Rumora in an interview. “It was a good move. I had to move from Los Angeles to Chicago to Toledo in two weeks time so it was a bit hectic, but it’s a wonderful community. The people are very chill and down to earth and I’ve been making friends and its been a nice welcome.”
Prior to being hired by the Toledo Museum of Art, Rumora worked as a curator at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
“It was sunnier there,” said Rumora with a laugh. “It was also different because I was working at the Villa, which is a satellite of the main museum that was only devoted to antiquities and Greek, Roman, and Etruscan art. I’m very excited now to be collaborating with people who work on non-ancient things and this has been a big passion of mine—to work with colleagues who work in contemporary art or Renaissance or ancient China. Working with this small but growing team at the Toledo Museum of Art makes it very interesting.”
