Last time out against Oregon, Ohio State lost a 32-31 game where they had a chance to go and win it late. Quarterback Will Howard scrambled for yardage and the time expired as he slid on the Ducks’ side of the field.
It was a moment that has stuck with Howard and one he still thinks of just days away from the rematch with the No. 1 Ducks. Ohio State blew past Tennessee in the first round of the College Football Playoff to get their highly awaited chance at revenge against Dan Lanning’s team.
“We’ve all been looking forward to this one and for another crack at these guys,” quarterback Will Howard said of Oregon recently . “The way the last one ended didn’t sit right with me, it still doesn’t. It still bugs me. I’m just thankful for the opportunity to get another crack at them. I said before the (Tennessee) game, ‘In life, you don’t get a lot of second chances.’ The fact that we’re getting a second chance here is a blessing.”
Howard had two touchdown passes and completed 28-of-35 passes against Oregon for 326 yards. The graduate transfer played very well in that game. Howard played a great game against Tennessee after a less-than-great showing against Michigan. If the Howard that plays against the Vols shows up again next week, the Buckeyes will be in great shape.
