Now that the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping has passed, shoppers are heading out to the stores to redeem gift cards, return unwanted gifts, or checking out the sales and bargains.
At Levis Commons in Perrysburg on Friday, some shoppers took advantage of the warmer winter temperatures to use gift cards and money that were Christmas presents to get that gift that eluded them on the holiday.
And some were bargain hunters, shopping for post holiday deals.
Kristina Ewald of Tiffin and her 13-year-old daughter Sidnee redeemed a gift card at Sephora.
“Sidnee got the card from her grandmother for Christmas. She got Moroccan oil spray and a facial spray,” Ms. Ewald said..
Katie McDonald from Toledo said she came to Levis Commons armed with several gift cards.
“I’m a gift card fiend,” she said. “I’m here with all the gift cards I got for Christmas. I’m very excited. Before I came here, I told my mom and dad I was going out and would see them in five hours.”
With inflation and the economy biting into many shoppers’ wallets and keeping some from getting a specific present, getting a gift card for Christmas is fun, she said. “Jobs aren’t certain. Me and my family are really fortunate this time of year.”
