EXETER TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A suspect died in an officer-involved shooting in Monroe County.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MSCO) said a Deputy Sheriff was dispatched to Hoffman near Palmer in London Township in regards to a suspicious subject on Saturday (December 28th) around 10:56 a.m. While the Deputy Sheriff investigated the incident, he received a second call of a suspicious subject matching the description of the person he was investigating on Hoffman. That call came from about five miles away—on Blue Bush near Mock—around 11:30 a.m.
“The Deputy Sheriff responded to the Blue Bush address and located the subject who immediately engaged and began physically assaulting the Deputy Sheriff,” the sheriff’s office press release said. “During the assault, the Deputy Sheriff discharged his firearm, striking the suspect.”
According to the sheriff’s office; the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene after the shooting.
No information was released about the suspect’s identity, including age, gender or name.
