Meals for the memory: 2024 sees evolution of food

As another year comes to a close, it’s important to reflect on all the developments that have been made over the last 12 months.

The culinary industry is something that continues to evolve in the Glass City and beyond. Let’s take a look at some of the foodie news highlights from 2024.

New and old

Restaurants (and a coffee shop) popped up all across town — like Assembly American Brasserie opening in late January, The Standard opening in March, Toast and Tap opening in August, along with Sam’s Mediterranean Grill and Migos Toledo opening in September. This is not to mention both Stone Cut Bistro and Sweet Nate’s Coffee, which opened their doors in December.

The Collective Private Chef & Catering business brought a new flare to the area’s food scene in late September. The company specializes in private events and catering, and hopes to continue to expand its offerings as business continues.

Eddie Lee’s closed after 44 years in business in June, along with Fowl and Fodder closing toward the end of May. Chef Aaron Lawson of Fowl and Fodder hinted in a Facebook post that the space will be used for a new culinary adventure sometime in the future.
