Both Sandusky and Ottawa counties were put under Level 1 Snow Emergency status Monday morning.
Icy conditions are reported across Sandusky County.
UPDATE: Most schools across Sandusky County have extended initial 2-hour delays to the full day. Check your local district for most recent updates.
Ottawa County Sheriff Stephen Levorchick commented on storm.
“For a while, the roads got very snow covered and slippery, and that’s the reason for the Level 1,” Levorchick said. “Everything was getting a little bit slick, and we wanted to make drivers conscious of the road conditions.”
In addition to more snow, possible until 3 p.m., expect to see wind gusts up to 36 mph in the Port Clinton area. There is a 40% chance of additional daytime accumulation of snow. Expect afternoon accumulations of less than half an inch.
Ottawa County is also under a small craft advisory, with waves around 3 feet.
Levorchick wanted to re-mind drivers that winds can increase slippery conditions on roads.
