Affordable housing project heads to vote by Toledo City Council

More affordable housing could be coming to West Toledo.

Toledo City Council’s Zoning and Planning Committee on Wednesday recommended council approve a zoning change for a plot of land off Tremainsville Road that would be developed into an affordable housing project.

The development, called Tremainsville Farms, will preliminarily contain 18 lots consisting of 15 duplexes and three triplexes.

Tom Gibbons, director of the city’s plan commission, said the commission is working with the owner of the project to design the units.

“We’re pretty excited about getting more housing in this area,” Mr. Gibbons said. “This land has been undeveloped for quite some time.”

The preliminary drawing proposes a new street tentatively labeled Firefly Lane that would intersect at 2388 Tremainsville Rd. and would extend east, intersecting Rood Street.

The development would be built on either side of Firefly Lane, bordering Gilliotte Avenue, and between Mellwood Avenue and Laskey Road.

WeTally LLC is the owner of the project, which is being built by Lewandowski Engineers.
