A coalition of several Toledo-area agencies has secured more than $14 million in federal funds to pay for construction of electric-vehicle charging stations in areas that might otherwise lack them.
The Lucas County Transportation Improvement District will solicit proposals from private operators to build and maintain the charging stations in rural and low-to-moderate-income areas of Lucas, Ottawa, Wood, and Sandusky counties, officials said after U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo) announced the grant.
The improvement district represents the city of Toledo, the Lucas County Engineer’s Office, and the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments. Sandy Spang, the metropolitan council’s executive director, said the adjoining counties are TMACOG members…
