Ohio DNR drilling 10 water-research wells to learn more about a mysterious tri-state aquifer

BRYAN — First, there was a proposal that Pioneer Mayor Ed Kidston floated to several Toledo-area suburbs in the summer of 2018.

Mr. Kidston’s company, Artesian of Pioneer, offered to pipe in water from the far reaches of northwest Ohio as an alternative to those communities languishing on with thorny, often-contentious contract negotiations for tap water historically provided by the city of Toledo.

Ultimately, Toledo and its many suburbs came to an agreement and formed what’s known as the Toledo Area Regional Water Commission, thereby creating more rate equity and giving suburbs the voice they wanted in regional water decisions…
