TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Kitchen for the Poor honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday with a heartfelt church service and a traditional lunch for the community. The event, held at Lo Salem Baptist Church in central Toledo, brought together community members through singing, prayer and a shared commitment to keeping King’s dream alive.
Leaders at Lo Salem Baptist emphasized the significance of this event, noting its special place in Toledo’s history as one of the city’s earliest tributes to King. The celebration also had the participation of volunteers from Mercy College, who assisted in the kitchen to prepare meals for the attendees.
