Over the last couple of years, there have been several high-speed chases across the state of Michigan. Most of them occur when the police try and make a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle, but every once in a while it’s a different story. I don’t condone high-speed chases as they aren’t safe for anyone involved or others on the road and they just create more problems down the road.
Although police are here to keep everyone safe and to catch criminals, there are times when they have to place their safety and everyone else’s safety above the arrest. There are many states where police aren’t allowed to chase you and will instead choose to try and make a traffic stop at a safe time and location.
I think this should be adopted in most states but there should be some heavy consequences for running once you are caught. I don’t think that many people think about the danger they are causing or the severity of their consequences once they are caught. If they did, I feel there would be fewer high-speed chases but what do I know?…
