TOLEDO, Ohio — Additional electric buses are expected to join the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) fleet with the organization’s acquisition of a nearly $3 million state grant, announced in a press release Wednesday.
The $12.8 million grant, called the Diesel Emission Reduction Grant (DERG) was awarded to multiple Ohio transit agencies by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Department of Transportation. According to the press release, DERG is intended to help transit agencies replace aging diesel buses with less environmentally costly models.
