Two Ohio counties declare emergency over bird flu, local farmer discusses threat

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – This week Mercer and Darke counties declared a state of emergency over continual bird flu outbreaks, asking the state for extra funding and support to fight the disease.

Ralph Schlatter is the owner of Canal Junction Farm in Paulding County. Despite being located only 40 minutes from Mercer County, he said he isn’t worried about the outbreaks.

“I’m not saying nothing will ever happen, but right now, I feel pretty much at ease about the way we’re doing things,” Schlatter said…
