A judge on Friday disallowed most of a proposed defense expert witness’ potential testimony in an upcoming murder trial involving a business owner who shot an employee during a dispute last year.
Lawyers for Eric Salmon planned to put William G. Leu III on the witness stand in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to testify as an expert concerning the state-of-mind and fighting skills the alleged victim displayed during the confrontation.
But Mike Loisel, chief of special prosecutions for the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office, said much of what Mr. Leu might testify about would be inadmissible hearsay regarding Joshua Anders’ perspective on the incident. He also protested that Mr. Salmon’s lawyers, who provided prosecutors with information about Mr. Leu on Wednesday, missed a deadline of 21 days before trial to submit experts for their witness list…
