High winds, rain slam into Northeast Ohio, knocking down lines and causing some outages

CLEVELAND, Ohio – High winds and rain showers swept through Northeast Ohio early Sunday, and forecasters say they expected gusts as high as 45 mph to hit the region.

FireEnergy Corp. reported that about 10,500 people were without power across the state at 9 a.m. Sunday. Some power lines were knocked down across the area, including in Rocky River.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland reported that showers and thunderstorms are expected later Sunday, with some storms turning severe at times. The harsh weather will move through ahead of a cold snap…
