Michigan Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Homicide Suspect Wanted in Indiana

Monroe County, MI – A routine traffic stop in Bedford Township led to the arrest of a Honduran national wanted for a 2020 homicide in Indiana, authorities said.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Justin Jackson stopped a motorist at approximately 1:58 a.m. Thursday near Summerfield Road and Dorr Street. The driver failed to provide proper identification, prompting further investigation. Through law enforcement databases, Deputy Jackson confirmed the driver’s identity and discovered an active homicide warrant out of Marion County, Indiana.

The U.S. Border Patrol’s Gibraltar Station was contacted, and agents responded to assist. A Border Patrol agent positively identified the driver as the fugitive wanted on the homicide charge.
