Manhattan’s Pub ‘n Cheer located on Adams Street in downtown Toledo was surprisingly busy on a brisk Saturday afternoon.
After my husband and I finished off the poutine, I now understand why. The Quebecois dish alone is the main reason for us to return to Manhattan’s on a semi-regular basis.
The simple and humble dish of bistro French fries, fresh Turkey Foot Creek Creamery goat cheese curds, and a brown gravy was astoundingly good. The gravy, loaded with shaved beef, was an umami bomb. The cheese curds “squeaked” when bitten into. I am glad my dining companion and I chose the large portion for $12.25.
