TOLEDO, Ohio — Ohio is officially recognizing Black media with a new statewide designation. Gov. Mike DeWine signed a bill establishing the week of March 16 as Ohio Black Media Week, celebrating freedom of the press, equity and equality.
“I think it’s important to celebrate anything that’s historically significant. That’s what this is,” said Fletcher Word, publisher of the Sojourner’s Truth.
