Consumers overcharged for prescription drugs eligible for compensation from $49.1 million settlement

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has announced that consumers who were charged too much for generic prescription drugs may be eligible for compensation from a $49.1 million settlement with two manufacturers.

According to AG Yost’s office, Apotex of Toronto and Heritage Pharmaceuticals of Eatontown, New Jersey were accused of artificially inflating prices and limiting competition for numerous generic prescription drugs.

“This was a conspiracy to cheat the system. We won’t tolerate collusion that inflates drug prices and harms Ohioans who rely on affordable medication,” said Yost. “We are working to restore fair competition and hold wrongdoers accountable.”…
