COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVG) – Columbus Police released body camera footage Thursday showing the moment a SWAT officer shot Darnell Jones, the man accused of killing 13-year-old Kei’Mani Latigue. Darnell Jones, who also goes by Darnell Ogletree, was wanted in Toledo for allegedly abducting and killing his daughter, Kei’Mani Latigue. Columbus Police said an officer shot Jones when he grabbed a gun during a confrontation with a SWAT officer Tuesday morning. He was hospitalized and is stable.
Toledo Police had issued an alert to other law enforcement agencies to keep an eye out for him. Columbus Police knew he was in the area and SWAT officers had him under surveillance when the shooting unfolded.
The video released Thursday shows the moment the officer got out of his vehicle to confront Jones. The officer asks for his name and orders Jones to show his hands. The officer draws his gun, and Jones replies “kill me, just kill me.” Jones threatened to pull the gun on himself…
