MAUMEE, Ohio — Maumee police are asking for the public’s help in solving the 1974 cold case of an English teacher at St. John’s Jesuit High School who was “tied up, gagged, and fatally shot in the head.”
James Edwards’ body was found on Sept. 16 of that year inside his home on Elco Avenue in Maumee by a coworker who was concerned that he had not shown up to work that day, according to the police department. His missing vehicle was also found abandoned in downtown Toledo.
Maumee police reopened the case 15 years ago with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Cold Case Unit to review evidence from the initial investigation in the hopes that technological advancements would provide new leads…
