COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Egg prices are finally dropping after months of soaring costs driven by the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) that hit poultry farms in Ohio and a number of other states.
The website Tracking Economics, which uses government data to update prices daily, listed the wholesale price of eggs at $3 on Friday, up about 80-cents from the previous week, but down 63% from the all-time high of $8.17 on March 3.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins said last week that the administration plans to increase imports of eggs from Turkey and South Korea.
