Inaugural summit creates opportunity for African-American teens

A local organization hopes to mold African-American teenagers into the next generation of leaders, creating opportunity through its network of community partners.

The Legacy Builders Teen Summit, planned by Toledo’s chapter of Jack and Jill of America, invited teenagers from over a dozen area schools to attend the event Saturday. The attendees participated in interactive workshops led by local companies, listened to local keynote speakers, and took part in a community impact activity.

Candice Harrison, the event’s organizer, said the summit aims to equip the teenagers with “essential tools, knowledge, and networks to become the leaders of tomorrow.”…
