Brother testifies against brother in ‘headless, handless’ murder trial in Lenawee County

ADRIAN — Thursday’s testimony in the “headless, handless” murder trial in Lenawee County Circuit Court wrapped up with the defendant’s brother and former co-defendant on the witness stand.

Michael Sepulveda, brother of defendant Richardo Sepulveda, accepted an agreement where he would plead guilty to second-degree murder and get a sentence of 10 to 30 years in prison in exchange for truthful testimony about the 1997 homicide. Both Ohio men were charged in January 2023 with first-degree murder, assault with intent to maim and evidence tampering as well as conspiracy to commit those offenses in the death and dismemberment of a man thought to be a drug cartel courier. Richardo is on trial, and Michael’s turn to testify came Thursday afternoon.
