Businesses ‘disgusted’ after appearing on health department list

There’s more to the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department’s list of unpaid food service operations than meets the eye.

A list of more than 100 food service operators was posted to the health department’s website and announced in a news release Tuesday, with the department saying the listed establishments “may pose a serious risk to public health” by operating without a valid license.

Payments from the businesses were due on March 3, and according to the department’s Environmental Health Director Jennifer Gottschalk, the effort is aimed to “inform the public while encouraging operators to take prompt corrective actions.”…
