American Lung Association study gives Lucas County air quality a failing grade

LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — The American Lung Association has given Lucas County an “F” grade for air quality in its latest report, citing high ozone levels and pollution as major factors contributing to the poor rating.

“Ozone is a form of oxygen that’s good up high in the stratosphere but bad nearby,” Kevin Stewart, a spokesperson for the American Lung Association said. “You don’t want to be breathing it. It’s something that causes irritation to the lungs.”
