Velvet curtains and vintage glam: Burlesque glows again in Glass City

TOLEDO, Ohio — A once-thriving burlesque scene is getting a glamorous revival later this month, as local performer and choreographer Jess Worley, known on stage as Scarlett Kiss, prepares to bring classic burlesque back into Toledo’s spotlight.

“This is my first production,” Worley said. “Paulette’s Studio of Dance has graciously let me host it here. I’ve been performing at Paulette’s for a couple of years now, but it was about two years ago that I decided to really dive into the world of burlesque.”

Scheduled for May 24 at Paulette’s Studio of Dance, Worley’s show is one of the first professionally-produced burlesque performances in the city since the COVID-19 pandemic. She said it’s the culmination of two years of work and passion…
